Green Energy Doors Open is an energy education campaign and annual showcase of individual, community and commercial sustainable energy projects. The initiative aims to showcase advancements in the sector and energy champions, demonstrating that Alberta is on the path to a 100% clean decentralised energy system.

The 2017 Green Energy Doors Open showcase takes place September 22 – 23 – 24 2017 with over 150 individual open house events across British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.

Situational Awareness of Field Environment (SAFE) – Personnel Monitoring Module


SCADACOM™ offers the option to increase safety and operational effectiveness by enhancing situational awareness of lone and remote field workers. The new Situational Awareness of Field Environment (SAFE) personnel monitoring capability allows control center operators to track workers through a centralized system. Combined with SCADACOM’s web viewer technology, the information can also be securely accessed from outside the control center.

General Description

Control Center operators are the central coordination source for field services. Field services contact the Control Center to coordinate maintenance and dispatch, and their field activity. Control Center operators can easily tag which devices are currently being serviced or scheduled to be serviced by field personnel. The graphical display of the device indicates the lone / remote worker’s current status with a color-coded icon. In case of need for emergency response or other support – the operator can escalate the worker’s status to trigger alarms and expedite support.

Status reports quickly identify all active workers, prioritized by emergency status. Pertinent information is readily available either directly on the report or by using drag and drop functionality.

Combined with the SCADACOM™ Shift Handover Accountability and Risk Reduction Process (SHARRP) and Operator Logbook modules, SAFE ensures that comprehensive situational awareness of workers in the field and current status reports are successfully communicated from one shift to the next.
